Here is a map of our journey that we will update as it unfolds. You can control the layers with the icon at the top left of the map. We currently have layers for our route so far, campgrounds we have stayed at, activities we have done, and breweries we have visited.
We do have a general plan of what route we would like to take. We plan on travelling northeast first, eventually making it to Maine. From there, we will work through the mountains of the Northeast over to Niagara Falls into Ohio. We hope to then work our way up Michigan to the Upper Peninsula and back through Wisconsin.
We will then work our way south down Route 66 to explore the Ozarks, Texas, and the desert Southwest until we eventually reach Albuquerque, New Mexico for the hot air balloon festival in October. We will then explore more of the desert Southwest in Colorado, Utah, Arizona, New Mexico, and California through mid-December. Once mid-December hits, it will start to get pretty cold. So, we are going to park the Airstream and ski our butts off.
We plan to work our way up from where we park the Airstream and hit several ski resorts on our way to Whitefish, Montana where we have rented a place to live an ski for about 10 weeks. We will leave there in mid-March and work our way back down to the Airstream. Hopefully, we’ll detour to Canada for some more skiing on the way.
After we pick the Airstream back up, the plan is to head up the West Coast and make as side trips inland to see places we want to see like Yosemite, Napa, Crater Lake, etc. We may head up into Canada once we hit Washington, but that is still up in the air. We want to work our way from here back to Montana and into Wyoming, South Dakota, and Colorado as well. We’ll see if we can get it all in in a year!
